What you are actually buying
The word AEO covers at least four different purchases, and most disappointment comes from buying one while expecting another.
- Monitoring: a dashboard sampling what the engines say about you. Cheap, useful as a baseline, changes nothing on its own
- Diagnosis: an audit that explains why you are not being cited. One-off, priced like a consulting project
- Execution: the rewriting, structuring, technical fixes and third-party description work that actually changes outcomes. This is the expensive part and the part most often quietly excluded
- Reporting: regular narration of the monitoring, which is where retainers go to die
